Animation and quiz question
Nov 25, 2015
Hello all!
I've been using Presenter '13 for some time now, but recently work also added Storyline 2 to my toolbox (wahoo!). I have a few questions:
- When I did text animations in PPT/Presenter I had the text appear as black, but then switch to gray as each successive text appeared so the learner would concentrate on what was currently being discussed. This was done with a simple appear animation and an added 50% fade animation timed to go with the next appear animation.
I am able to get the same effect in SL2 by simply copying and pasting my original text, changing the color from black to gray, then fiddling with the timeline. While it's not difficult, it isn't as easy as PPT/Presenter is.
So my question is, is there a way to do this animation in SL2 easier than the workaround I've come up with?
Second question. When making skill checks (quizzes) previously, I used Quizmaker '13, which is awesome. In SL2, it looks like quizzes have to be done directly on each "slide." Is there a way to import from Quizmaker '13 into SL2?
Thanks so much, I've learned a ton from this community, and I can't wait to see what I create in the future!
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it! Season's Greetings to those who don't! :)

Hi, Derek -- Thanks for your questions and I'll answer your 2nd question 1st! Here is the documentation you would need to Import from Quizmaker into SL2.
Regarding your primary question with the fading text for animations, I am not aware of another way to accomplish what you are trying to do other than what you have described, so I will defer to the community to chime in with their ideas or suggestions. You'd also be welcome to post your question over in our Building Better Courses forum for design ideas, as well. :)
The way you describe is how I fade text, but I am answering here to be notified if anybody has a better way.
BTW, I agree that directing the learner's focus is super important to learning, yet largely ignored in e-learning.
