ARE THE MARKERS CRAZY OR AM I?

Mar 11, 2019

I have a Storyline 360 course in which I created two slides with markers.  The markers are created correctly (black default text, white background, nothing fancy).  They appear correctly while being created, but  one of two things happen in preview slide and when published.  It also happens occasionally in creation mode too!

1-Changes to black background and (apparently) black text.  I go back in to change back and happens again.

2-So rather than work on the existing slide, I created a new slide in the same course and recreated content in new slide.  Same thing.

All colors are correctly selected in creation mode...BUT ONLY ONE OF THE MARKER SLIDES BEHAVES LIKE THIS!  Whoaaaaa.  Trippy.

HELP!

Hi Robin,

When Storyline 360 starts misbehaving and causing you to question your sanity, I like to start with any environmental factors that could be causing it first:

  • Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? You can check by going to the "Help" Tab -> "About Articulate Storyline" and you'll want to look for Storyline 360, build 3.25.18088.0
  • Can you check that you're working on and saving files locally? Working from a network or shared drive is known to cause odd behavior, ultimately leading to corruption.
  • If it's only one slide, is there anything else unique on that slide (i.e. media, web objects, etc.) that could be interfering? Try removing those items and see how it behaves.
  • Lastly, look at importing that slide into a new project file to see if that resolves the odd behavior.

Keep me posted on your results!

Hey, Ashley!  It's me again.  Prior to emailing you last time, I had tried the first three suggestions.   Today I tried #4 with same results.  Slide works correctly in separate file.  Apparently it's the main file???!!!

Attached is the imported slide while still in the 'create/edit' mode.  Looks great, right?

When I preview it within the original file, we're back to the black background.

Hi Robin,

Sorry this one continues to be difficult to nail down! If you're able to share a copy of your .story file here, I'm also happy to take a look. That way we can investigate any other culprits or issues that could be in this file.

You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here.

I’ll delete it when I’m done troubleshooting.
