Assigning a value to images and adding to image values up

Sep 14, 2022

I would like to do an exercise where the learner can choose items (the item has been assigned a monetary value) and the  total amount of these items will be displayed.

How do I do this?

Hi Lauren

Without knowing how you want it to function here is a quick sample that may help you get started.

I created a number variable for each 'image' inserting the default value on creation. Then I created a number variable called TOTAL and used that in the triggers to sum the images when clicked.

Thanks so much for you help. That is exactly what I needed. Now I have another problem. I would like to create a running tally.

I want to give the learners the option to take as many quizzes they would like. They will earn 5 coins for each quiz that they get correct. The more quizzes they do the more points they will earn.  How do I do a running tally on the 'choose a challenge' slide? Or what are my options?

I have tried a few things and now it looks like a mess... Please can you help me. I have attached the project for you to look at.

Hi Wendy,

No the budget slide is not part of the challenge. It will be after the slide 1.3 - choose the challenge (the picture of the spade, soil and pot slide) is the slide where the learners can choose which challenge they would like to do.

Ideally I would like the learners to see a running tally of their money or points on one slide so they can decide if they would like to do another challenge to earn more money or points.

Once they have completed as many challenges as they like and earned as much 'money' or points. The next budget slide is where they can choose to spend some of the money on food. So depending on what food they buy their money (or points) will be deducted.

So there are 2 elements to this:

1. Choose the challenge: Create a running money tally of the challenges

2. Budget: minus money based on food choose

Is this possible to do?
