Attach PDF File

Apr 27, 2016

I tried to attach a PDF File --> when User klicks on a Button a PDF File should open in another browserwindow.

So I uploaded the PDF File in Player/Recources but In the Trigger Options (Jump to URL/FILE) I can not select it. What is my mistake?

Thanks a lot, Ines

If you put the file in Resources, the user needs to click Resources to access it. If you want the user to access it through clicking an object on the slide, you need to use the jump to URL/file option. In that case you locate the file on your computer, and when you publish, SL packages the file and takes it along.

It sounds like you are trying to combine the two, and it really is a one or the other sort of deal.

Hi, Ines -- Thanks for your reply! Basically, Wendy was sharing that in order for everything to function properly in a course, it will have to be tested in the environment in which it will ultimately be accessed by your learners.

As stated here in this article with recommendations for Publishing and Sharing Articulate Storyline 2 Content, "If you view an Articulate Storyline course on your local hard drive (or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail. To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published."

If you are using an LMS (Learning Management System), you will need to follow the steps listed here, Publishing a Course for LMS, before you zip your published output folder and load it into your LMS (who you may need to contact directly for further instruction on their specific loading procedure). After your content is loaded, run through the course as a learner would, and your links should be working properly.

If issues persist, I would recommend that you share your file here in the thread so we can take a closer look. You would be able to do so by sharing the .story (or source) file itself, and you'd upload using the grey ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box. :)

Hi, Ines -- May I ask if you have tested the course on the SCORM Cloud in various browsers to see if you find the same behavior as you are finding on your LMS, as well? Here are our System Requirements sheet, and the section on Viewing Requirements:
