Audio behind lightbox

May 19, 2012

Here's what i'm trying to do:

I have a slide that has some background music playing with a bunch of images on the slide.

The users has to click all the images before they can move on to the next slide.

each image opens a lightbox.. the users views the info there.. then closes it.. and clicks on the next one.

is there a way to do that so that teh background music on the original slide plays continuously?

right now what's happening is that it's playing.. then pausing when the lightbox comes up.. then resuming when the lightbox is closed.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Helene! That's a great question, and currently, the way lightboxes work, there isn't a way to make the audio of the original slide play continuously when another slide is lightboxed overtop of it. What you could do instead, however, is mimic the effect by using slide layers instead of lightboxed slides.

Attached is an example. I used a partially transparent rectangle on each slide layer to make it look like a lightbox effect. Then I added a button on the layer which allows learners to close the layer and go back to the base layer of the slide.

Hi Jeanette,

I visited the example posted herein by you.

Is there any trick in Storyline to play an audio in loop?

You may play a long audio in slide but this asks an extra effort to create an audio for background music and even after it stops when it completes whereas in Studio'09 there was this nice feature of playing a background music endlessly.

Can you suggest me any idea regarding playing an audio in loop?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jeanette,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I was trying to use before and again as you told above. I am inserting that triggers screenshot herein:

But still this thing is not working. It is not even playing the audio.

In timeline the respective audio seems like this (shown by red arrow):

This (second) audio is not even able to play in previewing the slide.

Can you pls give me any idea about this? Am i doing anything wrong?

Thanks.

Sorry cant type on ipad well.

If you just want sound 2 to play after sound 1 you could move it on the timeline where sound 1 completes I would think.  Jeanette's option was to loop a single sound rather than one after the other.  I had to take the trigger off the second sound I put in before I could move it on the timeline but then I could put it wherever I wanted and even overlap if wanted.
