Auto-collapse in the menu structure & question pages

Aug 13, 2014

Hi,

We've encountered an issue that we don't know how to resolve with Storyline.

We know that in the the Menu tab, once the learner has moved through all items in a Topic, the topics can be set to collapse. In that way the learner will have to scroll less on the Menu Tab as he/she continues through the lesson on upcoming Topics.

However, we've found that if a section ends with a question page then the menu doesn't respect the auto-collapse setup. Is there a way to correct this or workaround this issue?

We have menu that is set to "restricted" for navigational lockdown and the question pages are hidden in the menu structure because we don't want them to appear in the menu.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Michelle and welcome to Heroes!

I'm sorry about the behavior you've experienced, and this is something that has already been reported to our QA team and documented here:

You may find that menu levels don't auto-collapse as expected when both the following conditions are true.

  • One or more slides have been hidden or removed from the menu.
  • The player is configured to Auto-collapse menu as learner progresses.

This is a known issue. To auto-collapse levels, you'll need to display all slide titles in the menu. Tip: To restore hidden slide titles, click the Reset from story button at the bottom of the menu editor.

I will add this thread to the existing QA report so that our team is aware of another community member who is being impacted by this, but I don't have any additional information to share at this time. We'll update you here in this thread and at that support article when information becomes available.

Hi Kevin!

Since the last post is 6 years old, let's start from the beginning! Can you share more details as to what you're looking to create? If you want to share a screen recording or .story file, you can do that by attaching it to your reply. Once I understand what you're looking for, I'll be happy to point you in the right direction for help!
