I want to clarify the steps you're taking so that I can recreate what you are experiencing.
You mentioned: if I make a change to an image file, video file, or audio file - these changes should be reflected when I next open the Storyline Project.
What kind of changes are you making, and how are you making a change to the files? I want to follow your process.
You also mentioned that you then have to: click and 'replace file' with the exact same file as is there.
Is this because the changes you made in #1 are not saving/updating as expected?
I appreciate your help so that we can take a closer look.

Is there any update on this? I just put in a feature request that should hopefully ameliorate this issue; but I know this things take time 😕
