I am trying to simulate writing, so letters appearing on after the other , is there a clean easy way to accomplish this is SL? Ive searched but just found chalk/white board features, nothing specific to simulating writing..
I found this route. It's a bit of a faff but it produced decent results. Firstly in Powerpoint, you create an animation of the writing. There are a number of youtube videos out there on how to do it, I used this one:

jon,
Not sure if this would work for you, but I did a screenr recently on how to reveal one letter at a time in SL: http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/30645.aspx
Also, Jeanette did a screenr on how to have a hand cross an item off a list. Might inspire some ideas: https://player.vimeo.com/video/149187326
Hope it helps!

thanks Jill, seems like alot of work especially if you have plenty of text... ill stick with a animation.... content over effect right ?!?
I realize this is an old post, but I use MV Boli font with wipe-from-left animation. It works well if you get the duration/timing right.

Once you done this (essentially creating a slide in Powerpoint), you can then save as Mpeg and incorporate into your story.
