Black screen on preview

I recently purchased Articulate 360 after enjoying the free trial (which worked without issues). But now, with the purchased version I am unable to preview my work. When I click on preview, I only get a black screen. What is happening, and how do I fix it?

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing when previewing your course.

I'm curious if the issue happens in any course you are working on or just this particular one?

  • If you cannot re-create the issue in a new course, I would advise you to import the file into a new one and proceed.
  • If it's happening in any/all files, you should conduct a repair of your software.

If you need us to look at your project file, please share your .story file with our support engineers. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.

Hello,

This is the second time I am experiencing this issue. The first time, I found resaving the project to work. This time I have tried multiple resaves and I am still getting a black screen. I have narrowed it down to a specific slide that seems to have the error. Is there a way of hunting out the problem?

Just a heads up for anyone experiencing this issue, check your assets. Through a process of trial I narrowed down to the affected slide. Then went through and deleted a layer - tried preview, undo delete, then delete another layer... Eventually I got to the culprit layer and then 'infected' asset that resolved the issue and now preview works as it should. In case you have this issue hope that resolves it for you :)

I'm having the same problem.

This is a very simple mock-up of an animated graphic and is saved locally. Every time I preview, I get a blank screen.

I have tried removing items one by one and previewing and done the same with the layer. Doesn't seem to have any effect.

Any advice here would be great.

Hi Jason!

It sounds like you've hit a snag with getting your course slide to show up in preview mode. Not to worry; I was able to troubleshoot your file and found what was causing the issue!

The Restart course trigger should be set to Restart course when the user clicks Replay hotspot rather than Restart course when the timeline starts on the hotspot.

Otherwise, the slide will continue to show up blank and restart the course without the learner performing any action.
