I'm trying to do a voice-over screen recording with my Blue Yeti microphone. The level in Windows control panel is "80" and I need to reduce it to about "5" to get a good level without distortion. I can see in the Screen Recording microphone level that things are OK until I hit the red record button....then the level shoots up to "80" and then everything gets distorted again.
Can anyone advise on how to set this microphone properly with Screen Recording? It works just fine when doing an audio-only track within Storyline.
Hi Allan! Sorry, not sure how your post got missed, but I've found it. I actually had another user reporting an issue here with Screen Recording vs. just recording audio. Unfortunately, this is not something very common and I encouraged them to submit a case so that support could have a look to understand the variance in behavior, but they have not done so yet. So, I'm still not sure what is going on and would encourage you to submit a case.
I've submitted a case now - thanks. The workaround I found is to open Control Panel/Sound/Microphone levels and leave that dialogue box accessible, and then start the screen recorder in Storyline. As soon as you hit that red "record" button (at least on my machine), the levels automatically jump up to 80, so switch over to the open dialog box and adjust as necessary. I had to lower mine to "2" to get a decent recording without distortion. You'll also have to trim your resulting video because the first few seconds will have audio distortion.
This unwanted re-adjusting of levels did not occur in Storyline with the voice-over recorder.
Hi Allan! Thanks for the update. I can see where you got your case submitted (#00354827 for my records) and you should be hearing from someone soon. I will keep an eye out as well so that I can follow along.
Hi Allan! I was following up on your case and noticed that it's been forwarded to QA to look into further since our support team was able to reproduce your issue.
As you can see this discussion is a tad older, but I'd love to help!
First - has this always happened to you while recording in Storyline 360 or did you notice it recently? We released Update 11 for Storyline 360 earlier this month, so I'd want to confirm it's not connected to that.
Also does this occur with any other Articulate 360 apps or any of your other software programs?

I am having this exact same problem while trying to record with a USB mic in Storyline 360. Anyone else still having this issue?
