Bluetooth Headset - Audio Delay

Oct 10, 2018

Hi,

I've recently encountered an issue whereby users of my course are unable to hear the first few seconds of each slide in SL360.

The users are listening through Bluetooth headsets, and I suspect the issue is caused by the headsets. The audio is fine using the standard computer speakers and wired headphones.

Has anyone encountered this issue, or have any suggestions as to how we might be able to address this? My GUESS is that the connection to the headset is disconnecting when there is no audio, and then there's a delay between it connecting again - just wondering if there's a setting to ensure a consistent connection? Or is this wishful thinking?

Appreciate your help...

Hi Chris,

That's a tricky one - especially if it's only a few users and you can't replicate it yourself.

Do you know if they're all using the same Bluetooth headset? Opening the course with the same browser?

There isn't a setting in Storyline for different headset devices but if you have enough learners who are running into it, maybe it's worth adding a 1-2 second delay to the start of all audio. It is likely a small amount that other learners would accept as "loading time" and the bluetooth users wouldn't have any gaps in audio.

Dear Ashley,

I have as well the audio delay, but in my case I am using normal headsets.

Could you explain me what I should do, not to lose these extra seconds in the beginning?

As I am delaying the audio in the timeline and as well I am adding extra space in the text-to-speech.

Thank you very much,

Cristina

Hey Cristina,

Thank you for reaching out!

It sounds like there is a 1-2 second delay added to your timeline? Does the audio file sync up with this delay? If so, then if everything is syncing correctly that should keep everything intact.
