Branching based on what answer was selected in a Freeform Drag and Drop

Jun 15, 2018

Hello everyone; hope this is the right place to ask this questions.  I have created a freeform drag and drop quiz question in Storyline 360 that has four different possible answers (3 incorrect, 1 correct).  User is choosing what to say in a particulate situation.  I want to be able to branch based on what answer they chose, even the incorrect ones (i.e if your response was incorrect option A, go to this slide, if your response was incorrect option B go to this other slide, etc).  I know how to do this based high level on incorrect/correct, but I want to be able to capture which incorrect answer they chose and go from there.  In theory this doesn't have to be a scored question slide, but I can't quit figure out how to capture what object they've dropped in a particular area.  I think I've been staring at this for too long, so hoping there is a solution that I'm missing!

If you assign a variable to the choice, you'll always know what they chose since the variable is persistent. You can then use that info elsewhere in the course.

For example, variable could be Choice1= true or false. If they select that choice 1, set it to true. Then since you know it's true, you can create a trigger that says if choice 1 = true go to slide 1.
