Yes, you can create buttons out of almost any object in Storyline—such as a shape or an image—simply by adding your own states and a trigger.

To help you get started, I'd like to pass along a few articles:

Please let us know if you have any other questions as you work on your Storyline skills! 

Understand that you don't need states for a user action to cause another action; just a trigger. I personally prefer my buttons to have less baggage of the type built-in buttons bring. (If nothing else, I want to avoid cookie-cutter appearance.)
