Button state change not showing on iPad
Feb 07, 2013
I am using custom buttons (buttons inserted as images) for navigation in my course rather then using the Player navigation. I have applied states to these images (Normal/Disabled). When viewing on desktop the states show as expected but when I am viewing on iPad (using browser not mobile app) the States don't always show. For example, I have a text button that when pressed will show a text box i created containing narration notes, when these notes are availible the button shows full color (State: Normal) on slides where narration is not available the button shows at reduced color (State: Disabled). When viewing on iPad the button will be disabled BUT will (sometimes) still appear at full color. What I found confusing is that they sometimes do so this can't be an HTML5 limitation. When viewing on desktop I never have this issue so my buttons are using the variables I assigned correctly =-).
Has anyone used custom buttons for navigation with states? Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Toni,
It may not be due to a limitation of HTML5, but more with the functionality of HTML5, especially since it functions properly on your PC.
Have you already checked the Private Browsing settings in Safari? You may find that Storyline's HTML5 output doesn't load as expected in Safari if the Private Browsing feature is enabled.
This is a known issue. To correct it, turn off Private Browsing while you're viewing your Storyline content. Here's how.
If you'd like, we'd be happy to take a look at what's happening with the HTML5 version.
Thanks!
Yes Toni. I too have found issues with states acting erratically when courses are viewed on the Ipad. I have created shapes that are supposed to turn dark red when the user has clicked on them (Visited State). When viewing the course on the Ipad or other mobile device, sometimes they work but most time they don't.
Hi Tom! This thread is a bit dated and, as you can see, we did not hear back from Toni on this issue.
