Bypass launch screen

May 08, 2014

Does anyone know how to bypass the launch screen when starting SL? Is this possible? Shortcut key perhaps?

Hi Mike,

You're referring to the main screen for Storyline that allows you to open or create new projects correct?

The only way (that I'm aware of) to bypass this is to open an existing file. If you simply launch Storyline from the shortcut, you'll need to move through the first screen.

Let me know if this isn't what you're trying to do, or if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Yes.

Problem I'm having is SL throws a script error each time it launches. I've had Corp IT, corp help desk, corp. security, etc all look into it and no one has a solution. I submitted a case here, but all efforts failed to provide a solution.

I figure (in the meantime) if I can get past the launch screen (which is causing the error) I can work with SL without issue. At times, if I launch SL by double-clicking the .story file, SL will launch. It still throws the same error, but loads the file anyway. Takes anywhere from 3-10 minutes, but it works.

Not a very productive way of doing things, but currently it's the only way until I can find a solution to the problem.

Hi Mike,

For the Script Error, that is more than likely related to an Internet Explorer security setting, the a firewall, or a proxy server that is blocking the script. It may help to check those things, maybe try to dial down or disable everything to start with and see if it makes a difference.

Are you able to load this page in Internet Explorer?

If the problem is reproducible in IE, please try to reset your Internet Explorer settings by following the instructions found here.

I apologize if I'm repeating information here. I'm not sure if your IT department has already tried this, or if support already recommended this. If you can share a case number, I can take a look and see what's already been recommended.

Thanks very much!

Resetting IE didn't work.

Case number is 00389812. I believe I ran through a few of the solutions offered, but then decided to have my IT support look into it first. I honestly think the problem is on my end. However, no one seems to know what the issue is. 1024x768

Hi Mike,

No worries! I totally understand that things come up :) Thanks for responding.

I do agree, it might be a good idea to have your IT team look into it and see if they can find out what's happening. I'm curious to see if they're able to find the problem and what that problem is - just in case someone else experiences this issue in the future.

If you find something, please do share.

Best,

Christine
