I have a slide with three markers that I want the users to click on. It IS optional, but the slide should stop advancing on the timeline when my "Click to continue" button appears. However, messing around with the triggers on this I can't seem to figure out how you tie a pause on the slide to a button press.

Try having the button open a layer. In the Slide Layer Properties, you can choose to Pause timeline of the base layer.
That was the trick, thank you a lot
It worked, I added a layer and made it to Pause timeline, this allowed me to achieve what I sought.
