Can't display base layer

Oct 02, 2023

For some reason, I can no longer see my Base Layer in the slide display. The Base Layer Timeline and Preview shows correctly. I've been working on Focus Order, so wondering if I accidentally did something to cause this. I've seen a few posts about similar issues over the years, but wasn't able to find a solution. Thank you.

Hi Ellen,

If you're having trouble viewing your base layer, you can try making sure that the visibility of the other layers is not locked as shown here:

If this doesn't work for you, would you mind sending us a Peek 360 recording of the behavior you're seeing so we can take a closer look at what's happening?

My initial need was to be able to see objects on all the layers as I adjust the Focus Order (I asked this question in a different post). I was advised to make all the layers visible. But then I can't see the base layer when I select it.

Hi Ellen,

Thanks for sharing the video. I can confirm that what you're experiencing is expected behavior. Going as far back as Update 47, with the 'lock visibility' enabled for all or some of your layers, the topmost layer in the slide order with the 'lock visibility' enabled will be what's visible when you click on the base layer. You'll need to make sure that all layers have their visibility unlocked to view the base layer.

You can open a feature request here if you'd like to have this behavior changed in future releases of Storyline 360!
