Is there a way to specify that out of a bank of 50 questions, for example, Storyline just picks any 25 questions every time the student retakes the quiz?
On a retry you may be presented with new questions, but some old ones as well - as it's random. I have seen an issue reported to our QA team that they're reviewing where when viewing on an iPad the retry presents the same questions.
Hi there, I'm trying to follow the tutorial you mention above but I can't get it to work. I have just 1 scene with all the questions added (the whole project is just the quiz/test). I have 123 questions, however I only want it to pick 50 questions each time a user logs in. How can this be done?
when you say 1 scene with all the questions added, are they all separate in the scene and not in a question bank? It is the question bank that allows you to draw a number of questions.
Feel free to upload your .story file - easier for someone to help if they can see your setup.
Thanks - unfortunately I can't share my file. So I'll try to explain. I have just the one project with only 1 scene. All the slides in the scene are the questions. I have created a storybank with the 123 questions and set it so that it only pulls 50 questions. I have the placeholder that get's created. And then below are all the questions - see screenshot. So How do I "hide" the slides that have the questions in there??
once your questions are in the question bank you don't need another slide of them in the scene. You can delete them (try one to start with so you can see that it doesn't delete it from the bank) or if you don't want to delete them you can create a new scene and place all your individual questions in there. Just remember with your result slide that only check the question bank remove all the other ticks against the individual question slides or your results will be skewed.
Hi Wendy, I'm back hoping you or someone else can help.
I want to add the Next/Prev buttons to each of the slides but as I'm pulling from a question bank - the only way I can see of doing this is by going into each slide layer - is this the case? Or is there a global place that I can add the Next/prev buttons to all slides?
Were you looking for a Submit All functionality vs Submit One at a Time?
By default, question slides in Articulate Storyline have a Submit button, meaning each question will be submitted one at a time for evaluation and feedback will be displayed immediately. If you want all the questions to be submitted at the same time at the end of the quiz, change the navigation controls from Submit buttons to Prev/Next buttons. Here's how.

Hi Efleda,
Here is the tutorial on how to draw from a question bank.

Hi Gemma!
Sounds like you may need to get your questions into a question bank first. I would invite you to check out this tutorial.
It will also assist you with setting up how many you draw, etc.
If you need further assistance, just let us know.

Shout out if this doesn't make sense.
Totally makes sense! I see now how it works.
Have just deleted all the actual slide questions and the it works beautifully! Thank Wendy and Leslie for your help.
Yay Gemma! Glad you sorted it out...QB can be tricky. Good luck with your project.
