Can you publish to mobile or tablet offline?

May 20, 2013

My courses contain commercially sensitive material.

Is there a way to load a course onto an iPhone or iPad or (shudder) non-Apple device such as Samsung Galaxy, without putting it on the web?

Sorry to ask a question that has probably been asked 100 times.

Please feel free to post a link to previous discussion!

Hi Andrew,

The only solution I can think of would be to copy the files onto the phone itself. If its an Apple device by using a file manager app and placing it into a folder somewhere and booting up the HTML file. Same goes with an android device - although a lot of those come with default file managers and/or SD cards, which means you could place the course directly onto that by taking out the card. Rather than a cable and doing it using software on the actual device.

Downside is that means you would need to manually do this for any device you wish to view the course on.

Hope it helps,

Laith

Hi Coni,

You'll need to have a way to download the course to your mobile device, so publish to a web server or LMS and then download to the device and delete it as Mike mentioned. You'll need to ensure you've included the option for offline viewing when publishing - and please also review the information here on which browsers, operating systems, etc. are supported for mobile viewing.
