Changing "LMS Lesson SCORM information" Fields AFTER Publishing

Jul 13, 2018

When we publish our courses using Storyline 3 in SCORM 1.2 format, we click on "Reporting and Tracking" under the "Output Options" and make sure the "LMS Course Information" is filled out correctly. We typically ignore the "LMS Lesson SCORM Information" fields though, because we thought all of the relevant information was in the "LMS Course Information" fields.

Recently, one of our clients started uploading our courses to their LMS. They noticed that the LMS automatically pulled and displayed the "LMS Lesson SCORM Information" metadata from Storyline, which was incorrect. There also wasn't an option in the LMS to change what was displayed.

Is there an easy way to update the "LMS Lesson SCORM Information" metadata AFTER publishing? We have a lot of courses and we're trying to figure out the best way to do it without having to open up each Storyline file, change the metadata, and republish each one.

Our only idea so far is unzipping the zipped course output for each course, changing the metadata where it lives (in the imsmanifest.xml file), and rezipping.

Is there another option? Has anyone ever encountered this issue or something similar before?

Thanks for the help!

Hi Michael,

I'll leave editing the published output to folks in the community who may have experience with that, but I'd like to help figure out what was wrong in your LMS Scorm Information pulled from Storyline.

Were you duplicating a file or using one standard file to start all your projects? It's possible that the information was saved based on that duplication and used anew on additional projects created?

The details of what you can change in an LMS published are outlined here, so it'd be helpful to know which of those was pulling in the wrong info and we can take a better look at what may have happened from there!
