I have a slide with multiple layers and characters in each layer. They are having a conversation and I want to change the state of the characters within the layer. I used the timeline but this isnt working.
Can anyone please guide me on how I can change the states within the layer, at certain times. The characters are speaking (using text to speech), so I want them to face each other at some times and face front at other times.
Do you have a sample .story file you can share so we can understand your setup? You should be able to change the state of the character from each layer (even if the character is on the base layer):
Let me know if you're experiencing something different.
Thanks for the quick response. I have attached my slide. I see that you start the state changes when the layer starts, but I am wanting to do it at different times. Would love to see where I might be going wrong.
Thanks, yes I have it now. I used cue points but understand what you are saying about the single characters on the base slide only. I will do that from now on as I didnt realise I could control their movements in the layers if they were on the base slide.
Maybe having a training around characters across layers would be a good one! :-)
I would be keen to know more about characters too and making sure you can simulate a more real conversation. How do you add the more nuanced effects with the text to speech and audio, to really get that natural conversation going?

You have triggers to the wrong characters which is one of the issues. I show it here and offer a tip to make the production much simpler.
Hi Tom
Thanks for that. Was there supposed to be audio on the file as I cannot hear anything but I can see it all.
Doh! My mic was unplugged. I can record another one if you want. Or were you able to get the gist of it.

Cool. Glad it's working. I am going to use this in one of our upcoming webinars.
Sounds great.
