Havent picked up the software yet, but in the process of determining which tool is best for our eLearning needs.
Here is the Q:
Some of our departments already use Captivate 6. If we have Storyline, is an easy process to convert their files to be used in Storyline. Or, should I just put that on my wish list?
you can certainly reuse the Captivate assets (audio files, bitmaps, etc.) within Storyline, but that's where it ends. When it comes to widgets (commonly used with Captivate) or any Advanced Actions, there is no way to 'convert' those into Storyline. While the ouput may be comparable, Storyline and Captivate are very different tools, for example Storyline's layer concept doesn't exist in Captivate and vice versa Captivate effects, interactions and access to tons of system variables have no equivalent in Storyline (yet).
A while back, I had used both tools for the same project and made some notes along the way, which you can read about here: http://wp.me/p2BoUf-3R
