I was wondering if anyone knew of the possibility of being able to offer the participant a field / box for comments / feedback / questions, etc. from within the StoryLine application or is that a feature that would be in my LMS?
The first thing that comes to mind is a survey. Would that work for you? You could either create a survey quiz within Storyline, or you could use an external survey site (they will usually have these set up to email you the results, directly) to create a feedback form or survey and insert it as a web object.
I'm sure there are other ways you could do this, but just wanted to stop by with a suggestion for you.
Thanks for the suggestion. I am looking for a solution, during the development phase and possibly other applications for its use, to get feedback on each slide so I can ref the development work in a seamless manner. I would simplify the development cycle in a big way if I could do that.
I am a newbie here, and was trying to do the same thing (insert a feedback/comments field). I think the survey route might work for me; however, I was wondering how I can test this to see if it works.
If you'd like to use the survey from an external site, there are quite a few out there. Survey Monkey is one of them, they have a Pro and free version. What you could do is create a survey with one of those well-known survey sites, set it up to send to your email address and insert the survey into your course as a web object. The user will see the survey in the course, itself and when they submit it, the survey results should be emailed directly to you, or whatever email address you specify.
If you have any questions, or need some additional information, feel free to ask!
The solution is still eluding me. For your scenario I would try putting the course up on cloud.scorm.com. Create a sample and perhaps you can post it here and I'll give you feedback!
Thank you both for your speedy responses. Initially, I was thinking of using the internal survey tool since it seems easier. I was just wonder how I would go about testing it? If I post it online, where do the comments go once I put them into the text field?
The problem with the built-in survey is that it won't be sent to you automatically. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, or if you plan on using an LMS for tracking. However, emailing results through Storyline is not currently an option. Take a look at this support article for more information. There are some unsupported methods for doing this however. Here's one of the conversations on this topic.
Now, if you are using an LMS, you may want to take a look at this tutorial. Your survey questions will need to be tracked on the results slide and then they will show up in your LMS.
