Does anyone know how to convert a published elearning (flash) to SCORM if you don't have the original Articulate file.

Hi,

The short answer is you will have to rebuild. Unfortunately, there is no magic button.

The effort involved in reconstructing is high. It may be time to return to the content and refresh it anyway as you are effectively creating a new course.

Play the course to understand how it works. As Flash has been killed in all major browsers and the Windows operating system, the only way I know to do this at the moment is to use Internet Explorer 11.

Record what you are doing using Articulate Peek so you have a video reference for animations etc.

If the course was originally published as Flash/Html5, in the published folder/story_content you will see a list of jpg files. These are the graphics used in the course. If it was published as pure Flash and you don't have the original assets you will have to take screenshots of every graphic or find suitable replacements.

Text doesn't exist on screen in Flash as it has been converted to graphics, so you can't just copy and paste what you see. You will have to either retype it, or if there is a lot of text, you could screenshot each page and then run it through OCR software to generate the text.

Use the video as a reference, add in the relevant text and graphics and then apply animations and create the interactions.

I was going to do this, but we decided to rewrite the course and freshen up the look as it would take less effort than deconstructing and rebuilding.
