Create a custom quiz on the fly

Jul 16, 2013

Hello all,

I'm evaluating Storyline for a specific client request and hoped someone out there could figure this out.

The client has a very large bank of assessments that are split up into groups by subject matter. They would like to be able to have users select the subject-matter groups that they would like to take and have a quiz from those groups built on-the-fly. It would need to be presented as one quiz and report the results to a SCORM-compliant LMS.

We thought maybe Storyline could present the user an opening question asking the user which quiz(s) they would like to take (multiple answer) and Storyline could build the customized quiz based on their response (using branching?). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

John

Howdy John,

Welcome to Heroes! The branching will work, but the issue is with tracking and how a LMS will see the results. You can have multiple result slides, but only one can be tracked at any one time. You can have a result slide that tracks other result slides, but that means that the user would need to take all the quizzes in order for a correct score to be reflected.

There is this thread with some suggestions on tracking Multiple SCOs.

Always Happy to Help,

Adrian

Hello Adrian,

Thank you for the greeting and your response! In your scenario, if the user chose, say, 3 groups from which to build their quiz, would the chosen quizzes show up as a single quiz or would they be 3 separate quizzes? The client is adamant that they must be a single quiz. Of course, that would alleviate the need for multiple SCOs.

Best,

John
