Create a question bank by importing a text or excel file - example for each type

Jun 15, 2021

Hello ,

I'm starting working with quiz and question bank, the following subject has been asked many times in the forum but I haven't found answeer to the following question:

I would like to have a template file (txt and excel) including all the different type of questions that we could inport in Storyline. The template available in the forum describes only one type of question.

TF, MC, MR, FIB, WB, MD, MDN, SD, SDN, NUM, LIK, PO, ...

or maybe it is documented somewhere ?

Thanks

Hello Patrick and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

Thank you for reaching out and sharing the template you would like to see.

We have this process documented here:

Storyline 360: Importing Questions from Excel Spreadsheets and Text Files

The template does have one example to get you started, but all of the question types that are eligible for import are included in the documentation.

Hi Leslie,

The article you linked only has a limited number of examples. Is there another resource available that shows how to format ALL of the different question types in Text or Excel files?

Personally, I'm specifically needing to know how to do FIB. Is it similar to formatting for Respondus where all acceptable responses have an asterisk next to them?

Hi Rachelle,

Happy to help!

The format for "Fill in the Blank" questions if you will be using the .TXT method looks like this:

FIB
5
Name a former president.
George Washington
John Adams
Thomas Jefferson
Abraham Lincoln

I've attached a sample file with the correct format which you can use as a reference when creating your own set of questions. No need to add an asterisk as all of the answer choices in the list are considered correct.

Hope this helps!
