Creating a shape with two colors

Jul 25, 2019

I would like to create a shape that has more than one color. I have attached an image that is close to what I would actually like to do. Can someone give me steps on how I would create the image that I have provided?

Thank you, Sheila

I know your question implies "using SL tools only", but a "fast" answer that I would use to get this done quickly means using all the tools at your disposal.

  1. Open MSPaint (or whatever free paint tool you can access)
  2. Draw a tall rectangle in the lower half of the screen
  3. Draw an overlapping circle in a complementary color above that overlaps in a way as to give an intersection like shown in your example.
  4. Use the mouse to draw a selection area that encompasses the full rectangular area needed
  5. Click CROP and all the extraneous bits are removed
  6. Copy and paste into SL or save to disk for reuse later.

Thinking it through, you could accomplish this in SL using drawn objects, but it is going to be a LOT more cumbersome.   I was able to draw an ARC, fill it, place it over a rectangle in the correct angle, then draw an odd-shaped box to fill in the rest of the upper section.

The result looked good, but took a LOT more time.
