Default Email issue

Nov 12, 2019

I am trying to send a copy of my Storyline 3 file after publishing through the email link and get the message no default email. I have sent files multiple times in the past as late as last week. I checked me Outlook email and it show it is the default email.  I cannot figure out what has changed since last week?

I am trying just to publish a Storyline 3 SCORM file so I can upload the zip to the LMS. I keep getting the message Storyline output is read-only, being used by another process or you do not have proper security permission to access this resource. I am running Windows 10 and I have tried copying it to a new course then I have to edit the course to have the templates etc and it still does not publish. I had this problem before and then one day it just published. I know others in our company have this issue and they quit using Articulate Storyline products. I do not want to do that.

Hi there, Douglas!

So sorry for the trouble — I'd love to help get to the bottom of that error. Importing the slides into a new Storyline file is an excellent first step, so thanks for confirming!

To help us determine our next steps, can I confirm that you're saving locally? Any chance of automatic back-up software running?

Also, is this happening with a specific file? If so, I recommend trying a Save As and using a different file name, e.g. RollTek_Seats_v2.

It seems to be hit and miss since I upgraded to Windows 10 with all my Storyline 3 files. I have tried copy them to my local files for this process rather than the cloud, copy the project, renaming the files and they all are hit and miss. I tried to publish this file multiple time yesterday. Even shut down my PC and restarted it straight from my desktop with nothing else running. All had the same issue. Today I started my PC and did a few other things then tried to publish and it was successful. Not sure why but this happened to me last week as well.

As I said, others in my company had the same issue after upgrading to Windows 10 and they have changed the program they use to create WBTs.

Hi Douglas!

We've found that when upgrading Windows environments that it can disconnect applications. In that case, we recommend a simple uninstalling and reinstalling Storyline 3. Since all of your documents are saved to your workstation rather than the application, you won't need to move your projects to an external drive.

Here's how to uninstall and reinstall Storyline 3.

After that, can you try opening the projects and publishing them for LMS? If you run into any snags, our Support Engineers are available 24/7. Just use this link to submit a case.
