Default Question Settings in Question Bank

Jul 30, 2012

I've used Studio '09, and am switching over to Storyline.  In Quizmaker, we could set the default point value of questions (for us it's 1 instead of 10), and that we don't want answers to shuffle randomly.  Is there such a setting in the Question Bank?

Thanks for the clarification.

Hopefully I'm wrong here but I don't think you can set that like you can in Quizmaker.

What you could do instead, I believe, is create your own question template with all the question types and the default question settings and scores that you want. You may have to have some placeholder questions and answers.

Then use that (import a question from your template) into your Storyline project when you needed to add a quiz question.  Then if I needed the functionality of question banks, after creating my questions, I'd then create a new bank and import your created questions in.

I've not tried this but I think it could work . . .

Hi Leslie,

Thanks for your quick reply. I asked my question wrong. :)

I know how to change individual question properties, but Quizmaker has the ability to set the Default so all further questions created follow a desired pattern.

My questions is where in Storyline 360 is that default functionality?

If it doesn't exist, please fix in the next update. Its about efficiency, not possibility.

Thanks,

Jeff

I think this is the same question I was interested in having answered. Basically, in Storyline (I'm using 360), the only way I can see to change the shuffling of answers and the point value of each question is to modify each question, one at a time.

Is there a way to adjust the properties for all the questions in the bank at once, for example, set all questions to be worth 5 points instead of 10? Or turn off answer shuffling? This seems like a setting that should automatically be included somewhere, especially with a question bank feature.

Did this ever get addressed?

When importing questions from an xlsx file, I never see an option to modify the settings. It always imports with some sort of default font, size, and always Feedback = By Question.

Now, I have to go to each question individually and make the changes. When there are 25+ questions, it takes a long time.

We need an option to make these changes as we import them.

Yes, please bring this back up. I just spent 2 hours going through 10 question banks and adjusting each question individually. It was painful to say the least. Even when I tried to select them all and go into the design area, none of the changes were saved. It's a pity that this hasn't gotten addressed even after 3 years.
