Hi Julia, the Articulate folks have done a great job providing tutorials to get us going with the product. You can go here and then check out the section "Inserting and Customizing Screen Recordings".
Oh, and I should add that your project won't magically be done at that point. But that is the first step. You can have a recording show the learner the process and then with the click of your mouse, create a version that would require their interaction with the software, and even grade them on how they do the simulation if you want.
