Difficulty grabbing buttons on layers
Jul 15, 2013
Hi
I have created a few buttons on a layer in my course. The buttons link to different lightbox slides. For some reason, I'm finding it really difficult to grab the buttons so that I can move them and copy them. I've locked another item that it kept wanting to pick up and I've also chosen the 'stop learner from clicking on base layer objects' in the hope that this would fix things, but it hasn't. I can grab them with a lot of random clicking on their position in the timeline list and then back on them, but it works very randomly and is very frustrating. There is a lot more copying to do!
I don't know if it makes any difference, but my buttons have no fill or border. Obviously, I am still able to view their frame.
(I originally had text box hyperlinks to trigger the lightbox slides, but when I added visited states to these it stopped the trigger from working and I couldn't view the lightbox slides.)
What could be the problem?

set the buttons to 100% transparency instead it make them easier to pick up
Thanks, Phil. Perfect solution!
I have a 'button' problem too. Perhaps a different kind. Please could you take a look.
I have explained this problem in the attached word document.
Thank you so much.

From the clipboard, sometimes, for some reason, some of the buttons do not work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks,
Indrani
Hi Indrani
I just tested your file in preview and it works as expected. When are you seeing the issue - in preview or publish? and which browser are you using to view it?
Thank you, Wendy. I see it in both 'Preview' in 'Publish' view.
I did not tested it on Chrome, and it happens in IE.
But let me try again.
Thank you
Yes, definitely happens in IE both in ‘Preview’ and ‘Publish’ mode. This happens particularly with two items on the clipboard (Job Aid & Procedure).
Thanks,
Indrani
Hi Indrani
I've just published and uploaded to ScormCloud and viewed through IE. Here is a peek video of me running through the steps in your document.
I have no issue - so I'm sorry I can't offer assistance with something I can't replicate.
Hmm..it just happened to me again !! Interestingly when I refreshed my browser, it did not happen. Please could you recheck the button/check box settings and let me know.
Thank you so much-Wendy.

Hi Indrani
looking at the file the only issue I can see you may be having is if you are trying to click on the wording expecting that to trigger the checkbox. Just because the checkbox outline extends out to contain the text doesn't make it clickable only the checkbox is - is that what you are having a problem with?
Oh, my God !! You are the best. That is what exactly I am having problem with. In this case, perhaps I should not use the checkbox. Just thought that it would have been a little easy for me.
Thank you

Hi Indrani
keep the checkboxes and just overlay a hotspot or transparent shape that should work. Test it on one to make sure.
Thank you, Wendy. I will have to test it out. I remember doing this is Flash. This is super!!
