Disable button

Feb 08, 2018

I have my buttons disabled until the audio is complete.  Then they click the button, go to a section, come back to the slide with all the buttons and they change to visited.  However, I have recently had someone click on the visited state.  Since there are quiz questions in different button sections, the program freezes.  I would like to be able to make the visited states disable so they can't be clicked again.  Since they are disabled in the beginning, how do I make this happen? Two different disable states?

Put a shape that is filled with its transparency set to 100% above the button. Set its initial state to hidden. Add a trigger to the BUTTON to change the state of the SHAPE to visible when the user clicks the BUTTON. Be sure it is in the trigger list above any other action. The shape will be invisible, so the visited state will show, but if the user clicks, it will catch the click before the button does, so the button will not take any action.

I'm guessing, but my guess is that you don't have a button; you have a group. Groups are well known not to play nicely with states (or triggers, for that matter.)

If that's not what it is, come here (with a browser, not by phone) and use the gray ADD ATTACHMENT button to attach either your .story file or this slide. Somebody can take a look at it and tell you for sure what the problem is.

I have a slide with two buttons that take the learner to two different spots in the lesson then returns them to the initial slide before allowing the student to move forward in the course. The student needs to first click button 1 and visit that area, come back and click on button 2 to visit that area, then come back and click button 3 to move forward in the course. The student needs to click the buttons in order (1, 2, 3) and I've set up the triggers to disable button 2 until button 1 is visited and disable button 3 until both 1 and 2 are visited, but the disabling of button 2 isn't working and I'm not sure what I've done incorrectly. I've attached a screen shot of my slide. Any ideas?

No idea why you can move those triggers around Theresa using either drag and drop or the up/down arrows. I even created a new file and imported the slide in and tried to change them.  I deleted them and recreated them but in the correct order but still SL re-ordered them. I would log a support ticket with Articulate to see what's happening but in the short term as you are leaving the slide and returning to it you could use this trigger

Change state of R2 to normal when timeline starts on the slide on condition R1 = Visited.

That should work for you.

Sorry I couldn't be more help
