Disabling Next Button until All items viewed not working

I am working on a project and I want all of the items on the slide to be viewed before the user can click next. I used the tutorial provided to disable the next button. I saw two different examples: one using a true/false variable and one using a off screen shape. I didn't understand the variable at the time so I opted to try the shape.
- I chaged the shape's initial state to hidden
- I created a trigger to change the shapes state to normal at a certain time within the timeline.
- Then I added a condition to the next button trigger to only jump to the next slide if the shape is equal to normal
As far as I can tell everything looks correct, but it is not working correctly. It is actualy working backwards where it is disabling the next button at the set point instead of enabling the next button. Is there something I am missing? I have attached screen shots to show how it is set up.
Thank you.

Hello Hannah,
Could you share the .story file for us to take a look?
Hi Hannah! Perhaps this article, with some helpful videos, will assist you. I think you were wanting a custom next button as this shows as opposed to a button to trigger the next button.
Hi Hannah -
I see you are changing the state of the rectangle to Normal at 81 seconds... are you saying that you can click Next and advance to the next slide before 81 seconds?
Can you post your Storyline file? It would be easier to troubleshoot that way.
Regards,
Chris
I had to get the project completed so I just created my own button so I do not have that version to share any more.
Chris-Yes, it was allowing me to click next and advance before the 81 seconds, but I would then be stuck on the slide after that point.
It looks like if the rectangle has only 1 state - Normal - then your setup works as you described; The rectangle starts as hidden, but you CAN navigate forward, then after the appropriate time the rectangle changes to Normal state but you CANNOT navigate forward. Exactly opposite of your intentions and the logic you have set up.
So.. I added another state to the rectangle - doesn't matter what, I just made one up called "whatever" - and then magically everything worked as intended. I didn't change the triggers or anything else, just added the new state to the rectangle, but somehow the second state made Storyline behave as expected. You should probably report this to Articulate as a bug?
Thank you so much! That is very helpful!
Glad it helped. :)
Glad you got some assistance here Hannah!
