Do you use templates or a theme within your modules?

I have been building e-learning modules for the past 5 1/2 years. I have never been a huge fan of using templates b/c I feel like it makes the module seem more like a PPT presentation than an e-learning module. While I certainly use the same font, color scheme, types of images (photos or clipart), character (if I am using a person to guide participants) throughout the entire module, I do not typically use a template.
At my new employer, the marketing person said that she thinks that I need a template or a theme throughout the series of modules used for onboarding. I'm curious to know whether you generally use a template or theme throughout your modules.

I would have hoped this would be a more lively thread! I have the same question. I'm learning about Storyline and came across the use of templates. I've already created a handful of e-learnings and most without templates. I'm wondering how heavily others rely on them because I tend to lean towards custom design for all my presentations. Otherwise I feel it lacks creativity which can make it less engaging. Perhaps in a pinch where you need to relay simple text and image, templates can be handy.
