Is there a way to have items in a drag and drop swap spots?
I am working on some drag and drop activities. The idea is to have a page where there are four items and you have to drag and drop them in to order. The items would already be in a random order and then you would just drag and drop to swap them into order.
If I understand your question correctly, you can have four drop targets, one for each draggable item. Align the drop targets in the order that you wish them to be and assign each draggable item to the proper target. Be sure to set shuffle answers.
I am trying to set up a drag and drop exercise by following this tutorial. I have set up the triggers for each object, but when I insert the 'convert to freeform' feature, none of the shapes I have set up in my slide appear in the drop down. What am I doing wrong? I have done everything the tutorial says I need to do and it is not working! So frustrating! Can anyone help?
Hi Chris - You can use the free format drag and drop option to do this. I have attached an example for you to take a look. It is a little clunky but it works.
I created a drag and drop where I have 7 items to pack into a suitcase (one drop spot). When I drag the item to the suitcase I also have trigger to change the state to hidden (so it looks like the item is going into the suitcase. Problem is, I'm always told it's incorrect - try again! Even though I know I have the correct 5 items. I'm attaching screen shots of the Drag & Drop set up and the Triggers
Did anyone ever come up with a solution to the drag/drop ordering. I want to order jumbled words into a sentence, by dragging them into position, so that if a word is dropped in place of another, they swap positions. Does that make sense? I tried placing the targets underneath each word, and set to only one object allowed per target. But can't seem to get it to work. Some do, and other words, just stay hidden underneath the dragged item.
Happy to hear that'll work for you Laura, and looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email! No worries, this Peek video will show you how to remove it.
I am trying to have a portion of a picture switch with another portion of a picture using the drag and drop and I can't figure out how to do this. Can you help with this?
Walt, this help alot with recognizing where the drag and drop triggers need to be. I'm having trouble getting the pictures to exchange places though. I need box A to drag to the right over box B and then Box B will move to the left to replace the position of box A.
To do that is easy;you just need a motion path. To do that both ways, and multiple times, you will need to add variable to keep track of where the pictures are. See the attached file.

Hi Pip,
Welcome to the community.
It would probably be easier to determine what's going on if you could upload your story here.

Oops just realized Chris posted his question last year. Oh well maybe someone can use my example.
Hey, Nancy. That's true, but Pip posted in the last day or so.
Hi Becky - so she did. I think you are right we need to see Pip's story file in order to figure out the issue.

Here's the Drag & Drop set up (target) page
Hi G,
Are you able to share your .story file here so that we could take a look? If you'd prefer to share it privately, you can also send it here.

Hi Laura
have you seen this demo by Necj - might give you an idea
Thank you! This gives me an idea. I'll play around with that.
Thanks!
Laura

G McKinze,
In case you haven't solved your problem yet, I've attached a .story file on how I did it. (It is in SL 360 format.)

PS. Better late than never?
Got it! Thanks for noting that! I didn't even catch that! :)
No worries Laura. We've got your back. 😉
One of the examples with graphics will give you some ideas that will get you started. The heavy lifting is done by the triggers, mainly those that are attached to the submit button.
To do that is easy;you just need a motion path. To do that both ways, and multiple times, you will need to add variable to keep track of where the pictures are.

THank you so much!! This is exactly what I needed!
