Editing existing text variables

Hi there
I am trying to find out how I can edit/change existing text variables. I have to convert them from English to another language. The slides have got a variable container %CCtext% on a layer and a trigger to change the text depending on what slide is visible. However I cannot find where the text is being retrieved from so that I can change it!
