Sep 20, 2018

Hello,

is it possible to Export the illustrations I designed with storyline in a vactor file for example like Adobe Illustrator (ai, or eps)?

Hi Baerbel,

Great question - we don't have an option to export out the images, but you could look at using one of these options:

  • Publish to Word: Each slide will be created as an image in a Word doc. You could then save those to use elsewhere
  • Right-click on any icons or designs, and use "Save as Picture"

Lastly, we always love to hear more about what would help make your course designing easier. I’ll be happy to pass your thoughts on to our product team, but you can also feel free to detail them more through a feature request!

Hi Ashley,

Thank you very much for your answer. For a client I developed a complex ELearning with many detailed graphics, which will be printed later also in a print edition. For this I need a resolution of 300 dpi per image.
The screen image is not sufficient.

Usually I would build the graphics in Adobe Illustrator and then insert them into Articulate later. Unfortunately this way doesn't work either. - Do you have a good advice how I can go on without building the graphics a second time for the print edition.

Thank you very much for your support.

Hi Baerbel,

Sounds like a unique setup you have there - does the printed copy have to be an exact match for what's in the course? How are you hoping to display interactive elements or similar timed items on a slide?

Storyline is designed to view courses online, and the printing options we have are limited based on that. Perhaps you could publish to Web and look at doing a screen print of each slide when viewing the HTML? That's still a fair amount of manual work and a screen image (albeit slightly better than an image inserted into Word).

If you've already built graphics in Adobe Illustrator, are you having trouble using those in Articulate? I'd think that relying on a graphics creation tool such as Illustrator would allow you to print those out separately before inserting into Storyline. If you need to capture the graphic plus the slide content I can see where that brings us back to the initial solution I proposed which doesn't work for your needs.

I'm curious what others in the ELH community have done to have a high-quality printout, so I'd suggest reaching out in the Building Better Courses side of ELH and see if there is anyone who can help! That side tends to focus more on design and how to, and I suspect you'd find some graphics experts and wizards there.

Keep us posted on what route you take!
