Font changing when in preview/published

Mar 19, 2018

Hi,

I have created a course and the font is changing any time I try to preview a slide or publish the file.  The font is Interstate ExtraLight. I have tried:

-deleting/re-creating the affected text boxes

-Uninstalled/reinstalled Storyline

-Re-installed the font family on my computer

I then realized that it is not doing this in any other courses.  I have attached the file and was hoping someone could tell me what is going on with this font.

Examples of this font can be found on 1.1 and all of 3.

I also noticed that Interstate Regular does not look right on 1.2.

Thanks!

Lindsey

Thank  you for the video.  I have attached screenshots of what I am seeing. This also happens once the file has been published as a SCORM file and uploaded into our LMS. It appears this way on my colleagues computers as well.

Hi Lindsey,

Thanks for those screenshots! I was trying to isolate what could be different about your set up than Alyssa's (as her example looked good to me).

Do you know what update of Storyline 360 you're using?  The easiest way to check is to view the Help tab -> About Articulate Storyline. You're looking for Build 3.13.15006.0.

Also, have you tested with/without using modern text to see if it behave differently?

Also, you showed it in preview, but how does it appear in publish for you?

Thanks, Lindsey!

That's really strange, because I published your file with Modern Text enabled.

We're going to do some digging into why Modern Text caused this problem for you. Can you help me with a few details about your project?

  • What update of Storyline 360 are you using? The easiest way to check is to view Help >> About Storyline. You're looking for Build 3.13.15006.0.
  • Do you see the same problem when Modern Text is enabled if you try a different font?

Hi Lindsey, this issue came across my plate and I'm trying to understand what's going on. When I installed the font files that end in .ttf (truetype) then I don't see a problem. When I remove those and install the font files that end in .otf (opentype) then I do see the bug.

Could you try uninstalling your interstate fonts, and then reinstalling the .ttf files? Let me know if that fixes it for you.

Hi Lindsey,

Thanks for your patience! That issue Rock mentioned before is now fixed!

As a reminder, the issue folks were running into was that modern text would become invisible in the Storyline editor, but would still show when previewed or published. We've implemented a fix in the latest update of Storyline 360.

Take a look at the release notes here for some more detail and you can update by launching the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline. Details here.

Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Thanks again for sharing those examples, that really helped us track it down!

I've been searching for a while and I know this is a 2 year old topic but I am still experiencing this issue. I am using Monserrate font family and all of them evert during preview and publishing. I have Update the fonts under the Design  -> Fonts menu. That didn't work. I also have checked and unchecked the "Display Accessible Text by Default" option. I've saved, closed and reopened story and none of these options have resolved the issue. I am on Storyline 360 V3.85.31840.0.
