Freeform Hotspot Animation

Jun 11, 2013

I developed a freeform hotspot page, and when the user clicks on the picture I want them to to trigger a comment, a marker appears. How do I get rid of this so that they just click on the picture and only the comment appears?

Thanks!

Cassie,

It is a little difficult to know what to say without seeing your presentation, but It sounds like you need to delete the marker and insert a textbox instead.  Have the textbox start as hidden (done with a trigger at timeline start), and set the trigger you mention above to change the state to 'normal' or visible when the picture is clicked.

Hi Cassie

It sounds like you've built a Hotspot Question if you are getting a little spinning marker where you click.

If so, remove the question slide and put your image on a basic slide and add a hotspot from the Insert menu. This hotspot can then be used to trigger a change of state for a text box caption as described by Josh.

It all comes down to the objects you've placed on the page, and what you tell your triggers to do.  I suggest trying the textbox option I mentioned above.  Just have your hotspot trigger the textbox (which contains your caption).  You could also have the textbox/caption on a new layer so you don't have to mess with state changes.  Just have the trigger show the layer that contains the caption.

Hi Cassie,

If your goal is to have the user click two items before they move on, you can use visited states and a "Please Complete" layer to accomplish this. Hotspots aren't necessary.

Set 2 triggers:

- Show Layer "Please Complete" if the state of Picture 1 is Normal OR the state of Picture 2 is Normal when the user clicks Next.

- Jump to Slide "next slide" if the state of Picture 1 is Visited AND the state of Picture 2 is Visited when the user clicks Next.

Make sure they're in this order in your triggers panel, and you should be good.

Note - I would do this on a plain slide, not a freeform question. For the text boxes you want to show when the user clicks the picture, you can either put these on a layer, or make their initial state "hidden" and turn to normal when the user clicks the picture.
