Glitch in question bank

May 23, 2022

I have a glitch in my custom-built quiz assessment that I can't work out. The quiz is made up of 3 question banks: a true/false question bank, a multiple-choice question bank and a sequencing question bank. The quiz draws 2 questions from each bank randomly.

Here's the problem...on SOME occasions (not all), when the user reaches the sequencing questions, the final one is inactive, and the user can not attempt the question. It happens with different sequencing questions, but it is always the final question on the quiz before the results slide.

I tried to swap around the question banks and put the multiple-choice ones last. When I did that, the final multiple choice question would SOMETIMES (not always) fail to work.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

Hi Eunice,

Sorry to hear that you ran into an issues while using the question banks.

The best way to identify what's happening with your course is to test your project file so we can observe the behavior of the question slides and question banks when previewed. Would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here, or privately with us through a support case

I'd also like to ask a few questions to help clarify your experience:

  • Are you able to replicate the behavior on a new project file?
  • Do you have the number of attempts in your question slides set to unlimited with the feedback layers disabled?
  • Have you tried recreating the result slide in your course?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Joe,

Thank you for getting back to me. I'll happily share the project file. Please find it attached below.

With regards to your questions, I deleted the third question bank (sequencing questions) and remade it. The glitch was still present, although not all the time. With regards to the number of attempts in my question slides, it is set at 2 and the feedback layers are not disabled. I haven't tried to recreate the result slide.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Hi Eunice,

Thanks for sharing your project file. I did a few tests on my end using a published version of your course, but I was unable to replicate the reported behavior. Would you mind testing this link and letting me know if any section of the course does not function as intended?

If you are able to replicate the behavior using my link, please provide me with the following information:

  • Which browser did you use for testing?
  • What is the version of your browser?
  • Do you have all available Windows updates installed?
