The slides are using the Player Defaults, which I have the menu set up in.
But my menu doesn't stay permanently on screen - it disappears once you
click a topic. Also is there any way it can show which slide you are on?
hard to say what's happening without seeing your file - see Peek video - I show the menu on the left sidebar or the right sidebar and how it is selected from the slide properties panel for the slides. You can see which slide you are on using the menu on either side.
It will not stay permanently on screen if you are using it from the Top Menu Bar - if it did it would cover the content
Thank you , that really clarified things, I see that my issue is that I
don't have 'Menu' as an option under the Sidebar. I only see 'Glossary' and
'Notes'.
Can you share your .story file so we can take a look and let us know what version of SL you are using. Just use the grey 'add attachment' button at the bottom of the post to upload your .story file.
I don't see your .story file attached. If you are responding via email attachments won't display. You need to click View in the email not Reply and come into the forum and use the grey 'add attachment' button at the bottom of the post to upload.
I have another question that I am trying to figure out right at the moment. I did a screen record and outputted them as slide by slide rather than one video, now I do want them in one video can I convert them into one video?
Looks like in your file someone has renamed the Menu to Topic (which I didn't think could be done to the Default tabs). To fix I created a new project file and imported your slides in (see Peek video) and now the menu shows on the left sidebar - you can move it if you want.
Also, in the video it shows you how to go to Slides tab > Record Screen. Click on the recording and then say insert as Video. In your file I created a new scene and inserted the recording as a video.
Thank you! I thought there had to be something specific to my files. I
terms of the screen record I wanted to convert an existing recording into a
single video.
Yep I showed you on the video - go to the Slides tab > record screen and click on the existing screen recording and then you will see options come up to insert as video or slide by slide try/view / test modes. It’s in the file I uploaded in the second scene.
then you can delete the step by step slides in the other scene
One last question...when it was showing as topics it would collapse back up
automatically. Now that I have created a new project and have the Menu
setting - THANK YOU - it now is permanently on screen and can't find a
setting for having it be triggered when you click on it.
Hi Lianne! The Menu will default to the sidebar tab on your player. Not to worry - you can move it to a topbar tab where it will open when clicked and then collapse.

Hi Lianne
if you add it to the left or right sidebar it is always visible as long as it is selected on each slide in the slide properties panel
Thank you,

Sure - here is a tutorial showing how to manage Player features.
Hi there,
I looked at the tutorials but it says that 'Menu' is a default and I just
don't have it as a default...
You need to go into the player tab and select it from the list (put a tick next to it ) then use the up and down arrows to move it where you want it
Hi there, the thing is that it doesn't appear in the list at all.

Hi there,
Is a sample of the file. I am using Storyline 3.
Thank you very much,
Lianne

Yes, thank you. I don't have the original source video anymore so I want to
do it from the output that I do have which is step by step.
