Help Creating a Back Button

Feb 08, 2019

Hi all,

I've used Storyline to create a copyright decision tree tool and I would like to add a back button if possible to avoid the user having to start again if they choose the wrong option at any point.

I'm hoping that this won't be too difficult, but as this tool contains quite a large number of variables and triggers that change based upon choices the user makes, I feel like this is going to be quite difficult to achieve.

An an example...

There's a page that asks the user: 'Will access to this resource be [button: open] or [button: closed]'

The problem I can see is that if the user wants to go back at this point:

  1. There's probably over 10 different pages that the user could have come from, and;
  2. Some of the previous slides also contain multiple layers, so I'd have to ensure the correct layer is shown based upon previous decisions.

In my head I feel like I'm going to have to create custom back buttons with associated triggers that essentially reverse the conditions and this could be a lot more work.

I'm hoping however that the Storyline community will prove me wrong and tell me that there's an easier solution for this.

Here's hoping...

Thanks
