I have a unique situation. I have a story that will have audio for low literacy adults. That is not a problem. What SME wants is for the learner to be able to click on any of the sentences in the story and have that sentence turn bold and read out loud. I have been racking my brain to figure this out. Does anyone have any ideas on how this could work.
Add a 'Selected' state to each sentence(underline/bold the words in the 'Selected' state) and a layer with the audio for each sentence. Add the show layer triggers on each sentence. When you are done making all of your sentences on the same slide, select them all and right click (choose: button sets). Make a button set with any name. Once they are in a button set only one sentence can be selected at a time for speech. Hope this works for you.
Hi, Leonora! I see that Richard has stopped in to share an idea, and hopefully that will work for what you have in mind! If you still need additional insights, I might suggest also posting your question over in our design-related Building Better Courses forum!
And if you find a solution that works for you, please feel free to share a sample set up here so that others may benefit, as well! :)
One additional tip: as an alternative to bold and/or underline, you can set the 'Selected' state to have a fill color. I have used a yellow with a certain % transparency. The result looks like you used a highlighter marker; it really stands out and is very readable.
I have the states all set up. Now the audio is on one track. How do I set the states to do with the track? Do I edit the audio into the different sentences and then connect the states?
I went ahead and cut the audio to fit the states. It wasn't that hard. So I have attached the source file if anyone wants to review it and give comments.
Thanks for all the help. It is nice to have other heads around since I am the only designer here.!

This is a great idea, Bob! Please let us know if you are all set, Leonora, or if you still need additional suggestions. :)

I am using the bold and highlight.
