Help with triggers please

Dec 10, 2014

I have attached the file

I want the learner to get a correct or incorrect screen based on entering data correctly (or incorrectly), the data that the learner would enter is:

First Name, Last Name, Email, Home Phone, and Cell Phone.

If I remove the triggers for the two phone numbers, then the slide will go to the correct or incorrect layer. However, if I add triggers for the two phone numbers then it only goes to the incorrect layer....can you help?

Thanks,

Dana

Thanks Julie,

I tried combining the HomePhone condition with the FirstName triggers for the correct and incorrect triggers.  I have attached the revised file.  However, when I preview, it still takes me to the Incorrect layer even when I entered the data correctly.  Not sure that I wrote the triggers correctly.

Thanks,

Dana

You are going to always go to the incorrect layer unless you enter in the phone number the way it is typed after the "and" statement. Articulate does not group the 3 conditions which are correct for homephone into 1 condition which is what we want. What we want to tell articulate is that if name, email AND phone are correct go to this layer. However, there are 3 correct forms for phone. So you use the OR statement. But then the logic isn't correct because the first homephone is the only acceptable answer because of the AND..

Try creating a new t/f variable that evaluates the 3 home phone conditions separately. I think this is what you were trying to do when you had dual triggers but you were trying to accomplish too much. If one of the acceptable answers is true a new variable will be true. Then add that new variable to the list of conditions preceeding it with AND.

I didn't test this. My other thought would be to make 3 layers which show correct, one for each phone condition.
