Here's a challenge! Complete the trigger interaction!

Jul 29, 2020

So, I cannot seem to make this work!  I'm hoping that someone here can.  I have an interaction that is based on clicking a fire alarm handle (it has a motion path and moves down) which triggers a series of text boxes to appear each time you click the fire alarm handle.

I have four text boxes (Body1, Body2, Body3, and Body4).  So far, I can get the following to work:

  • Body1>change state to normal when user clicks Picture 1 (fire alarm handle)
  • Adjust variable Body1 to true when state of Body1 is normal
  • Adjust variable Body2 to true when user clicks picture 1 if Body1 is true
  • Change state of Body2 to normal when Body2 variable changes if body2 is true
  • Change state of Body1 to hidden when state of body2 is normal

In other words the first two body text boxes appear just fine when clicking on the fire alarm.  First Body1 appears, then is disappears, and then Body2 appears.

The problem is that I cannot replicate these interactions to get my body3 and body4 text boxes to appear/disappear after clicking the fire alarm.

Help :)!

I have attached the slide and I am trying to get all of this to work on the layer "General Protocol".  If you can get text boxes 3 & 4 to display I would love to know how you did it!  I have attached a word doc of the trigger configuration that I know works so far.

Take a look and let me know what you come up with.

Hi John,

I think you were making your solution too complicated, which was why you were having issues. Ultimately it would have worked, but I hope you will find the attached version simpler as it only uses one variable instead of four.

In the new version of your slide I have created a variable called AlarmPulled, which is incremented by 1 every time it is clicked. The value of this variable is then used to drive the state changes for each of your text boxes.

If you have any queries, just get back to me here.
