Have you tried setting up a layout in the slide Master, and then applying that layout to the quiz slide? If this is totally incomprehensible (a WHAT?!!!), or if you tried this and it's not working, please say so and someone will jump in with more information.
Not sure how helpful it is if you're new to the Masters concept. They work in Storyline similarly to how they work in PowerPoint and Presenter (part of Articulate Studio). Have you ever used them in either of these applications?
David has a series of tutorials here on Masters in Presenter
These are based on the Building Better Courses tutorial...you can see if they make sense to you.
Thought I'd throw these out there to get you started. Please do let us know if more concrete instruction, with a tutorial on how this would apply to your situation, would be helpful.
If not, let us know, and we'll jump in and provide more detailed explanation.
Rebecca, thanks for your help. I've already changed the slide layout. Now I want to change the color of the sequence drag and drop shapes to match my course. Is that possible? I just can see it in a grey color.
That's a great question. Hopefully, someone will jump in and answer it. I've tried a couple things that didn't work (you may have as well) and will list them here just to save time for anyone else looking into this.
FIRST THING
I tried editing each sequence item. Looking in the timeline shows that they're NOT individual rectangles. There's one rectangle: Sequence Drag and Drop.
If I click within an individual sequence item, and then double-click, a mini-bar appears and I can choose a fill color, line color, and change text color and size. But it doesn't achieve what you want. Here's a screenshot where I changed fill, line color, etc on a couple different sequence items.
ANOTHER THOUGHT
Out of curiosity, I clicked the "Sequence Drag and Drop 1" rectangle in the timeline, and from the Drawing Tools Format tab, changed its fill color. It "took" while editing, but didn't show in Preview mode.
MASTER?
I tried making assorted changes there as well on the Question Layout slide, to no avail. Changes "took" in master, showed in normal view, but not in preview.
I DID come across this very same question posed by community members who wanted to do this in QuizMaker, and the reply at that time was that it wasn't possible.
I wonder if this is also true in Storyline. Maybe someone has already jumped in to answer in the time I was taking to go through this. If not, I'm sure they will. TX for a great question!
Hi everyone! Becky's right, there's currently an issue with the way some of the formatting in a sequence drag-and-drop appears to "take"... but then it goes away upon preview or publish. And it's also true that it's not possible to change the gray-ish background color on the draggable items. But here's what you can do: if you need more control over the formatting of the draggable items, you can re-create a similar experience by drawing some shapes and using the Convert To Freeform option to turn the slide into a drag and drop interaction. Attached is a super-simple example.

Is it possible to change the layout of a sequence drag and drop so that the ovals with the words on them can be sequenced horizontally? I want ESL students to create sentences (with individual words on each oval), so sequencing them vertically does not accomplish that. Thoughts? Thanks!
Since this is a custom drag and drop you could easily move those elements are around and place them in any order. If you're using the built in storyline sequential drag and drop, you won't be able to change the layout of those elements.

Hi Rebecca, never did it before....as you see I´m new at Storyline! Thanks. Eleonora
Hi Eleonora,
Sorry, got busy with a project.
Here's a link that talks a bit about Slide Masters in Storyline:
