How can I display results data to the learner on Storyline?

Jun 13, 2014

Hello, I am new to Articulate Storyline - so really hope someone can help me with a query I have!

I am building a scenario-based e-learning course where the learner will receive a score each time a decision is made. I will be using Storyline to build it, but I will not be able to host content on my LMS.

My question is around how I can display the results data to learners - both as they go through the course (e.g. 'You scored 15 points') and at the end of the course, preferably on a matrix chart?

Also, how can you change the format the results data is shown in - e.g. showing the learner a graph of their results rather than just a percentage score?

I've been hunting around on the forums here for quite a while now - and while they are all interesting and informative, I can't find answers to these questions. So any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks very much

Hi Camilla and welcome to Heroes!

First, we don't support reporting results to a database or similar, so if you'll need to be tracking the user's results you may want to look into an LMS or consult the forms for additional ways to report the results to something such as a Google doc.

In regards to the feedback, you could customize the feedback layers for question (or create your own layers) that would show the users additional information based on how they answered. I'd begin by reviewing the tutorial here on question types as it includes information about the feedback layers.

If you'd like the users to see their results at the end of the course, you may want to look at using the "print results" feature on the results slide. This will generate an HTML page where the user will be able to see the question, their response, score, etc. If you're looking for a graphing type of set up, there was some similar discussion in this thread on how to show a dynamic graph as it's not a feature of Storyline.

Hope that helps!
