You'll need to include a trigger to hide the layer - but depending on what else you want to happen, such as just return the user to the base layer or advance them to the next slide as well, you may need to have some additional conditions to help Storyline determine what to do. You mentioned you got this working on one slide but not another? Have you checked the trigger order as it'll execute as described here.
Thank you so much for the feedback. It had to do with the slide properties. I was not even sure if I explained myself correctly. This is my first project in Storyline 2.
