How do I output Storyline to Vimeo?

May 02, 2013

I am new to SL and am not as technically savvy as I'd like to be - so please keep this in mind as/if you respond -  but I really need some help figuring this out.

I have created a tutorial in SL and would like to upload it to my company's Vimeo account, but it seems as though SL's output format is not accepted by Vimeo.

Do you have any tips/thoughts on what I can do/change to get the SL file into an acceptable vimeo format?

I'd appreciate any constructive responses.

Thanks,

Tuwana

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Tuwana!

I'm afraid I haven't worked with Vimeo, so I'm not sure how you'd do this.

Do you need to insert a single file type into Vimeo? If so, I don't believe this would work. Storyline packages its files, so you wouldn't be able to publish to a single video or file that you can use elsewhere.

Can you give a little more information?

Maybe some of the community members with Vimeo experience can chime in here :)

Thanks!

Hi Tuwana, welcome to the community!

Because Storyline outputs a collection of files, all of which are necessary for proper playback, your only real option would be to record a screencast of yourself or someone else navigating the course. Doing this, you would of course lose any real interaction on the viewer's end, and it would essentially become a video recording of someone using the course.

But if that sounds like it would be an option, you can use a screen recording tool like Screenr, which allows you to then save the recording as an MP4, which should be compliant with Vimeo.

Hope that helps
