How do I stop my inserts from shrinking??

I'm not sure what you are describing here?

Does this happen in a new course or this is something within the course that you are working on? 

Are you able to insert into a new file to alleviate the issue?

I've got around the problem by using an earlier version.

Obviously this isn't a standard problem :)

The one I have shrinks the size of the replay to a size so small that you
can't see the functions properly

What size are you recording at?

Also, replay does compress your video upon publishing, so not sure if that's what you are running into. 

Would you be able to share your .story file for us to take a look?
